Retrofitting of a Precast Reinforced Concrete Industrial Building Using Friction Dampers Without Stopping Functionality

This paper presents a seismic retrofit of an industrial-type precast reinforced concrete building structure using friction dampers. project consisted retrofitting two buildings, which one them will be presented here. Precast is the most preferred methods construction for industrial structures due to its low cost, fast and availability in rural areas. Unfortunately, constructed before “Specification Buildings Built Seismic Zones(TBDY 2018)” are not sufficiently engineered expected have poor performance when exposed major event. Because stopping production cost can tolerated by owners, technique that assembled during normal function required. As result this requirement, dampers selected as supplemental energy dissipation device. ASCE 41-17 [10] employed damper design evaluation building. Before study, some instability weak connection problems solved traditional measures strengthening. The effective configuration capacities after iterative trial-and-error linear study simplified developed PROMER. Nonlinear push-over analysis conducted prestudies. Finally, nonlinear time-history analyses performed confirmation results. , It shown proposed scheme satisfies desired goals both DBE MCE events. Overall, it considered with provides optimal solution stakeholders from performance, design, constructability, economical point view.
